As part of the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association, you can expect an outstanding farmers market experience at Pleasanton. You and your family will find the season’s freshest fruits and veggies—all California grown—and you can even talk to the very farmers who grew them. There’s no better way to experience California than to taste the bounty at the Pleasanton Farmers Market. http://www.pcfma.org/
Open Heart Kitchen
Just like the other markets in the PCFMA, the Pleasanton Farmers Market is about more than just produce. While shopping the market, you can do even more good for the community by participating in the Open Heart program.
The Pleasanton Farmers\’ Market and Open Heart Kitchen have partnered to collect donations of fresh produce for the 3,500 meals Open Heart serves each week. Open Heart Kitchen is a non-profit meal service dedicated to providing nutritious prepared food to those in need in Livermore, Dublin and Pleasanton.
How can you participate? Simply purchase some extra fruits or vegetables and ask the farmer to bag them separately, and then drop that bag into any of the collection boxes located throughout the market.
What to Buy
The Pleasanton Farmers Market is definitely the best place to shop for seasonal fruits and veggies, buth there’s so much more! You’ll find local goods like honey, eggs, artisan cheese, and even seafood!
Highlighted vendors this month include:
G&S FARMS: featuring Brentwood sweet white corn.
CIPPONERI FARMS: Their delicious almond butters, flavored and coated nuts, unroasted nuts, and dried fruits are fantastic. But don\’t forget to try their pomegranate juice, pressed right there on the spot.
PRATHER RANCH: This is the place to come for your picnic roasts like lamb, rib roast, pork loins, and more. Prather Ranch offers beef from their sustainable 30,000-acre ranch.
FROM THE SEA TO YOU: Stop by to pick up some halibut, tuna, scallops, shrimp, tilapia, cod, oysters and more. Try some shrimp or scallop kabobs on the grill.
