Livermore Valley may be known for wines, but it’s also a well-known hub of cultural experiences. (For our Livermore recommendations, check out our free area vacation guide!) The Livermore Art Association is one in an array of organizations that enrich the community with outstanding arts events and exhibits.
About the Livermore Art Association
Founded in 1957, the Livermore Art Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the public fine arts and fine crafts, as well as to encourage the artistic progress and the development of its membership.
You can view and purchase Livermore Art Association member works at the gallery at 2155 3rd Street, but a number of exhibits throughout the year bring special focus to individual artists and the collective group as well. Work on display for sale includes everything from painting and photography to wood carving, pottery, fabric art and jewelry. Even better, it’s staffed by the artists themselves! You may just get to speak to the talented individual who produced your purchased piece.
Recent and Upcoming Exhibits
Every year, the Livermore Art Association puts on a Spring Art Show. Most of the artwork on display will be for sale. The Association is currently taking in applicants for the show, so check back soon for more details about the event once exhibitors are finalized.
As an example of what you can expect from upcoming shows, we’re highlighting some of our favorite exhibits from the past year…
The annual Absolutely Abstract Art Show takes place in the fall, and is the only show in the Tri-Valley area dedicated to abstract art.
In mid-July, Art Under the Oaks celebrated its 30th anniversary under the cool, shady canopy of oak trees at Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore. Last year’s show featured 35 artists in mediums including painting, photography, jewelry, garden art, mosaics, pottery, and glass.
Held at the Bothwell Art Center (which we’ve written about before), last year’s seventh annual Essential Nude Art Show and Sale featured figurative works from local artists—many of which were drawn from live models at the Bothwell figure drawing workshop.
Art in the Vineyard is a late-spring event that draws folks from all over the Bay Area. This year will be the 45th anniversary of the event at Wente Vineyards.
In addition to the excellent exhibits presented by the Livermore Art Association, there are several other beloved institutions worth checking out. We recently highlighted the wonderful Livermore Valley Opera; the Livermore Amador Symphony; Pleasanton\’s Firehouse Arts Center; the beloved Bankhead Theater;
