The History of the Bulb
Dennis Bernal, owner of the Livermore Power and Water Company, donated the bulb to the fire department in 1901. A Burning Conspiracy
The Centennial Bulb is more than a mere artifact comprised of glass, metal, and filament. Given its history and its incredible ability to endure, there must be more to this little relic than its manufacturing. The lightbulb’s most celebrated conspiracy is that once upon a time, products were built to last. It was at the beginning of the 1920s that a group of businessmen realized that if a product refuses to wear out, then it would be the end of businesses. Shortly after, the first worldwide cartel was set up to reduce the lifespan of the incandescent light bulb.
