Microbreweries and craft beers are making a big comeback, and when you’re in Livermore, the First Street Ale House is a great place to sample some. This warm, family-owned bar is a community fixture. In fact, the First Street Ale House is owned by brothers who value that sense of friendliness in their establishment. The 6,000+ strong collection of beer cans on display gives off the vibe that this is a place to make yourself at home and have fun.
What’s On Tap at First Street Alehouse
One of the great things about going for a beer at First Street Ale House is the rotating cast of characters—on tap, that is. Twenty-eight on-tap beers to be exact. There’s always something new to try, but a recent lineup included:
- Guinness from Ireland
- Paulaner Hefeweizen from Germany
- Woodchuck Pear Cider from Vermont
- Widmer Hefeweizen from Portland
- Pyramid Apricot Ale from Berkeley
- Altamont Hella Hoppy Double IPA from right here in Livermore
- Alaskan Amber Ale from Juneau
- Kona Longboard Island Lager from Hawaii
- North Coast Scrimshaw Pilsner from California
- Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout from California
- North Coast Old Rasputin Imperial Stout from California
- Snowshoe Grizzly Brown from California
- Deschutes Black Butte Porter from Oregon
- Coors Light from Colorado
- Ballast Point Sculpin IPA from California
The Atmosphere
Since opening in 2000, the Alehouse has provided an upbeat, social atmosphere while creating a great sense of community.
The First Street Alehouse décor goes a long way toward making the place feel comfortable and friendly. For instance, the stunning woodwork provides that traditional bar kind of feel, while the personal décor put up by the staff, including family photos, reminds everyone that this is a place for good food and friendships.
You can expect a staff that is positive, friendly and helpful. Even if you’re just visiting, you’ll be treated with the same warmth as a regular.
The atmosphere is a big contributing factor to making the First Street Alehouse the heartbeat of Downtown Livermore.
