Before planning a fishing trip, it’s important to know what you need to bring. We’ve created this short checklist for you to mark off as you begin planning! Bear in mind that this is just a general checklist, and licensing and equipment requirements needs may vary by location.
Top Five Things to Bring On Your Fishing Trip:
- Fishing license. Be sure to check with the city’s ordinances where you will be fishing to ensure you have taken all necessary steps for permission to fish there.
- Cash. In case you need to pay for fees, parking, more bait, etc.
- Fishing equipment. Some fishing sites allow you to rent equipment! If they don’t, bring your own fishing poles, bait, etc.
- Appropriate fishing gear. Be sure to invest in sunscreen, sun shirt and/or long sleeve shirt, hat, sunglasses, etc.
- Cooler. Be sure to bring a cooler to keep snacks and drinks fresh and cool! If your fishing site doesn’t allow coolers, be sure to bring a backpack.
Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area
Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area is part of the East Bay Regional Park District. This district supplies their 11 fishing lakes with seasonal game fish such as rainbow trout and channel catfish. Anglers can delight in catching a variety of fish at this Livermore fishing lake. Experienced fishers can cast their line at this lake so long as they are in accordance with the park’s rules and regulations. The EBRPD also offers fishing classes for those new to the sport!
Los Vaqueros
Los Vaqueros is a fishing lake with a variety of fish. This fishing hole is home to trout, largemouth bass, catfish, and more!
